The DOE mission has been the supply of different essential reference works: Dictionary of Old English Web Corpus (M1705); Cameron, “A List of Old English Texts” (M1705a); and Cameron, Kingsmill, and Amos, Old English Word Studies (M1685). The main quantity concludes with three appendixes: a listing of reviews of Old English Syntax; additions and corrections to Old English Syntax; and feedback by reviewers that Mitchell didn’t accept. Prepared as a listing of manuscripts and editions on which the Dictionary of Old English is based, this was probably the most full file of extant Old English works. Although missing a discussion of abbreviations used by scribes, Parkes and Wright are handy sources for figuring out and studying to learn the fingers used for writing the majority of Middle English literary manuscripts.
